During a Reiki treatment, you are fully clothed. Your practitioner’s hands rest for several minutes at designated positions on your head, upper chest, abdomen and back, and also specific areas in need.
Reiki is a gentle touch therapy with specific positions placed on the body for short periods of time. During a treatment a person may experience seeing colors, feel heat or cold sensations and even tingling in the body. This is the ki energy that is within us all and it is moving within the body. Reiki (pronounced RAY-KEY) is a word derived from two Japanese words: REI (The Universal Life Force) and KI (sacred energy). In the 1930’s, Hawayo Takata (1900-1980) brought this healing art (Usui Shiki Ryoho-the Usui System of Natural Healing) to the western world. Her teacher, Chujiro Hayashi, was taught by Mikao Usui, the founder. From 1980 to 2019, Takata’s granddaughter, the late Phyllis Lei Furumoto (www.usuishikiryohoreiki.com), carried the spiritual lineage of the system. On March 15, 2019, Johannes Reindl from Austria was recognized by Phyllis Lei Furumoto as her successor and Lineage Bearer for Usui Shiki Ryoho.
